“This dunya (world) is like a shadow, run after it and you will never be able to catch it, turn your back against it and it has no choice but to follow you”
Be God-conscious all the time
Live life with Ihsan. If you could see Him right in front of you, looking at your every move and listening to every word that you utter, how different would your day be? It’s hard, isn’t it? Because we don’t see Him. So, the *God-Conscious* feeling might not be easy for some. Being *God-Conscious* will guide us from doing the things that we wouldn’t want God to see. Sing the 99 names of God to remind yourselves of Him, and inshallah, His names and His attributes will make you remember that after all, life comes from Him.
Do not isolate yourself
Your life deserves a part of you. Your family, your friends, your neighbours, your colleagues and, importantly, yourself. Being God-conscious doesn’t mean that you isolate the world. It doesn’t mean that you spend every minute of your 24 hours prostrating in sujood and neglecting everyone and everything around you.
The Prophet s.a.w. said:
“Do not do that. Fast, as well as eat and drink. Stand in prayer, as well as sleep. This is because your body has a right upon you, your eyes have a right upon you, your wife has a right upon you, and your guest has a right upon you.”
Ask God for the best of both worlds
If there’s one Dua that I can share, it is this Dua. It encompasses everything that’s good in the Dunya and everything that we hope for in the Akhirah.
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
"Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."
If all 3 tips are hard to manage, try 2. If not, start with 1. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Take on only as much as you can do of good deeds, for the best of deeds is that which is done consistently, even if it is little.”
Stay strong, dear loved ones. Better days are coming. Inshallah.
