7 Must-Go Mosques to Perform Terawih Prayers

One of the many things that we look forward in Ramadan is definitely the positive vibes as we perform our Terawih prayers with our family and friends at our local mosques. Of course, there are around 70 mosques and several prayer spaces (musollah, surau etc) offering Terawih prayers islandwide, but these are among the 7 must-go to mosques for the comfort of your Terawih prayers this Ramadan!

1. Masjid Al-Iman

It is located near the Pending LRT station and near the BKE expressway, Masjid Al-Iman is easily accessed by congregants living around Bukit Panjang area and other nearby residential estates. One of its remarkable initiatives during Ramadan is the availability of shuttle bus service to ferry nearby residents to the mosque. They have been providing this service for the past ten-years! This year, Masjid Al-Iman has upgraded their shuttle bus service by providing wheelchair-friendly buses! Check out Masjid Al-Iman bus schedule and pick-up points below:

Masjid Al-Iman offers a combination of 20 and 8 rakaat of Terawih prayer with 3 rakaat of Witr prayer. There are also special lectures after 8 rakaat of Terawih prayer. On top of that, you may also bring along your children as Masjid Al-Iman offers child-minding service. You can pray at ease while your children are taken care of by the mosque officials! Sounds like a good plan for parents with young children who want to go to the mosque for Terawih, right?

2. Masjid Maarof

Since its opening in 2016, Masjid Maarof has brought joy to many residents of Jurong West for easy access for prayers around the area. In 2017, Masjid Maarof has also started its first thoughtful initiative by providing shuttle bus service from various areas. This year, they continued their initiative and offers wheelchair-friendly buses too! Check out the 5 different pick-up routes at their Instagram page @masjidmaarof.

3. Masjid Darul Ghufran

Of course Masjid Darul Ghufran is on the list! Masjid Darul Ghufran just had its official opening on 22 March 2019 by President Halimah Yaacob. Known as the largest mosque in terms of praying space in Singapore, Masjid Darul Ghufran is able to hold more than 5,000 congregant at once!

Located just beside Our Tampines Hub (OTH) where the Hari Raya Bazaar is also being held, Masjid Darul Ghufran is definitely a must-go to mosque after breaking-fast with your friends and family! Masjid Darul Ghufran offers 20 rakaat of Terawih prayer every night with one juz per night recited by the Imam.

4. Masjid Yusof Ishak

Officially opened in 2016, Masjid Yusof Ishak is an iconic mosque that welcomes everyone including members of other faiths to visit and learn more about Islam. An interesting feature of this mosque - it provides a special room for mothers and daughters to pray together! Head to level 3 where the Mother-Child prayer room is situated.

Masjid Yusof Ishak conducts 20 rakaat of Terawih prayers with 3 rakaat Witr prayers from Sunday to Friday and 8 rakaat with 3 rakaat Witr prayer on Saturday, followed by a tazkirah.

If you are driving or riding, please note that the mosque basement car park is closed. So, feel free to park your vehicles at the pathway outside of the mosque and at the multi-storey carpark at Block 588A, 586A & 542 Woodlands Drive 16.

5. Masjid Sultan

Located at the central of Singapore, Masjid Sultan is the perfect mosque for everyone! It is our national icon and its melodic Azan can be heard around the whole of Kampung Glam area!

Appreciate the traditional exterior of the mosque and experience a peaceful Terawih prayer in congregation after breaking fast. Masjid Sultan conducts 20 rakaat prayers every night. Bring along your relatives and friends to Masjid Sultan and witness the vibrant colours from the light up and serene atmosphere around the area. Surrounded by various halal cafes and eateries, Masjid Sultan is probably one of the best places to perform Terawih prayer and grab a supper afterwards!

6. Masjid Al-Falah

Masjid Al-Falah is indeed a very special mosque as it is the only mosque in the heart of Orchard road. Located in the midst of a busy vicinity, Masjid Al-Falah is definitely a place to find serenity. Masjid Al-Falah also has air-conditioned prayer halls which certainly give comfort to its congregant as they perform Terawih prayer.

And if you prefer to shop before or after your prayers, Masjid Al-Falah is just the perfect mosque for you to catch up with your prayers. Masjid Al-Falah conducts 20 rakaats of Terawih prayer every night.

Masjid Darussalam is also one of the mosques that offers shuttle bus service for those who are staying nearby the pick-up points. Don’t miss out this awesome service and take note the pick-up points below:
