About Hang Jebat Mosque

From a small surau built in 1952 for the Hang Jebat Malay Regiment soldiers – from which the mosque was named after – who were living in the vicinity under the British Armed Forces, this old generation zinc-roofed mosque has grown into what it is today after going through major renovations in 1996 to expand its prayer hall.

Today (after the dissolution of the Hang Jebat Malay Regiment when the British Armed Forces withdrew from the republic in 1971), the mosque continues to be an important religious node for residents and workers living and working in the area. On weekends, it offers madrasah classes to students living around the Queenstown area.
