Who is Sayidatina Khadijah r.a.?

by

The Prophet s.a.w. mentioned that (the Angel Gabriel said): “Here is Khadijah coming to you with a dish of food or a tumbler containing something to drink. Convey to her a greeting from her Lord (Allah) and give her the glad tidings that she will have a palace in Paradise built of Qasab wherein there will be neither any noise nor any fatigue (trouble).” (HR. Bukhari)

Her noble qualities and character earned her the honor of being greeted by God through His Angel Jibril a.s. Such is the highly regarded status of the first ever Mother of the Believers (Ummahatul Mu’mininin) Khadijah bint Khuwailid r.a.

1. She believed in the Prophet s.a.w. without hesitation and accepted Islam immediately.

The Prophet s.a.w would still speak of her even long after her demise, remembering her sacrifices and kindness towards him and others. She is known for her determination, resilience and intelligence. She stood by Rasulullah ﷺ, supporting his huge mission, encouraging him and shouldering him with love despite facing all the challenges that constantly came their way.

2. Khadijah r.a. invested her wealth in the path of God and spent generously and unreservedly.

She understood her role and purpose in this world, always contributing to the betterment and progress of her community. She is an outstanding female figure and role model in our rich Islamic history that we ought to emulate.
